“Out of the Amazon: Natural Dyes” & Marbling

This Book Arts Workshop series will take you through the process of designing and making your own book! Learn how to go from a model to a finished book, considering typography, media, structure, etc. Along the way you’ll have the opportunity to learn four different sets of skills to help you! Mark will also be coaching you one-on-one throughout the workshops as you work on your own book. Each workshop will begin with a demo and studio time to work with demonstrated techniques and materials.

Mark Wangberg has a lifelong passion for book making, including his experiences in working with acclaimed book artist Hedi Kyle. He holds an MFA in Book Arts and Printmaking from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He has taught book arts workshops across the U.S. and his work was included in Lark’s 500 Handmade Books. His work has been exhibited at 23 Sandy Gallery, Water Gallery, MarinMOCA, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and RiskPress Gallery. Recently he has been giving book and paper making workshops in Africa and the Amazon. He founded Jack-In-The-Box Press in 1972.

Connie Grauds is a pharmacist, natural medicine expert, and author who has apprenticed with one of the last traditional Peruvian shamans for the past 21 years!. They lead trips to the Amazon! LivingShamanMuseum.org
